En los últimos años, los podcasts se han vuelto cada vez más populares, ya que realmente hay un podcast para cada quien. Todos estos increíbles podcasts fueron celebrados por iHeartMedia (la editorial de podcast comercial número 1 a nivel mundial), durante los premios inaugurales de iHeartRadio Podcast Awards, presentados por Capital One®.
En la primera entrega de premios iHeartRadio Podcast Awards, se reconocieron podcasts en más de 20 categorías, entre ellas, Criminología, Comedia, Música, Salud, Historia, Entretenimiento y más. El codiciado título de Podcast del año fue “Slow Burn”, producido por Slate Plus, y presentado por Leon Neyfakh. El programa aborda los principales escándalos políticos, incluyendo la acusación del presidente Bill Clinton y su controversia con Mónica Lewinsky (temporada dos) y el escándalo de Watergate (temporada uno).
Otros ganadores de la noche incluyeron “Armchair Expert” de Dax Shepard para Breakout Podcast, “The Joe Rogan Experience” de Joe Rogan para Mejor Comedia de Podcast, “Whine Down” de Jana Kramer para Mejor Podcast de Entretenimiento de TV y muchos otros.
NPR también fue honrado con el primer iHeartRadio Podcast Pioneer Award. La red de radio fue reconocida por ser una fuerza impulsora e innovadora en la creación de la industria de podcasting con las innovadoras contribuciones sin precedentes, de la reconocida organización multimedia al papel en expansión de podcasting en la cultura popular de hoy. El premio fue aceptado por la jefa de programación de NPR, Anya Grundmann.
